Brad Pitt Was Almost Melissa Etheridge’s Sperm Donor Instead of This Guy

Foresight or fortune given his current parental workload?

Brad Pitt could have been the father to at least one other child in celebrity world had he and singer Melissa Etheridge acted on a preliminary thought back in the late ’90s. Etheridge told Australia’s’ Studio 10 talk show that Pitt’s name was tossed into the pile of options when she and her then-partner Julie Cypher were searching for a sperm donor.

“[Pitt] was such a good friend of mine. And we did consider it,” Etheridge revealed on the show. “And yet, I looked and I saw how badly he wanted children and I thought, ‘I don’t want to share this with someone who really, badly wants children because my children don’t need another parent — they have two.’”

Pitt was passed over for David Crosby of Crosby, Stills & Nash, who fathered the couple’s two children, Bailey and Beckett.

“It’s one of the reasons why David Crosby and his wife are so perfect — because they [already] had children. They were looking to do this as a gift,” Etheridge continued. “Of course, my teenagers now are like, ‘I could have had Brad Pitt [as my dad]! My son said, ‘I could’ve been amazingly handsome.’”

Etheridge and Cypher broke off their relationship in 2000, and now is married to Linda Wallem. Pitt currently has six children with his wife Angelina Jolie.
