R&B Singer Kehlani Hospitalized After Apparent Suicide Attempt
Kehlani posted an emotional message on Instagram Monday night, revealing her hospitalization after an apparent attempted suicide.
Before deleting her social media accounts, the 20-year-old Grammy-nominated R&B singer posted a photo of her arm hooked up to an IV drip at the hospital, with the caption explaining her condition:
Today I wanted to leave this earth. Being completely selfish for once. Never thought I’d get to such a low point. But.. Don’t believe the blogs you read .. No one was cheated on and I’m not a bad person… Everyone is hurt and everyone is in a place of misunderstanding.. But as of today, I had no single wish to see tomorrow.. But God saved me for a reason, and for that… I must be grateful.. Cuz I’m not in heaven right now for a reason… On that note.. Bye Instagram.
Early Tuesday morning, she posted another photo of R&B singer/songwriter and record producer (who’s singed under Drake’s OVO Sound record label) PartyNextDoor sitting by her hospital bed, captioned “thank you for saving my life.”
Kehlani came under fire on social media yesterday (March 28) after PartyNextDoor posted a photo on Instagram of the two of them in bed, perhaps suggesting that she was cheating on boyfriend Kyrie Irving, a basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
She spoke out against the cheating rumors on her Instagram post, writing in part:
And since you’re begging for the truth on my love life: I am severely utterly in love with my first love. Went thru a bad breakup and ended up easing into a relationship with a man who was one of my bestfriend. Tho we reallzed we both weren’t exactly at a time where we were prepared to do so. No I’m not a CHEATER, a THOT, i’m a BELIEVER IN FOLLOWING YOUR HEART and not LYING TO YOURSELF. And in all aspects on everyone’s side, EVERYONE IS HAPPY AND HONEST AND MATURE. Social media is the goddamn evil. Go outside and play, you have your own lives to live that don’t revolve around “celebrities” or “socialites” who are simply trying to live lives just like you.
Earlier this year, Kehlani was nominated at the Grammys for Best Urban Contemporary Album for her debut mixtape, You Should Be Here. She was recently the only featured artist on Zayn’s debut solo album Mind of Mine for the song “wRoNg.”
