WATCH: Jennifer Hudson and James Corden Make Public Domain Songs Cool Again

Who knew the songs you sang as a child was so fire?

James Corden took a break from his Carpool Karaoke and continued his domination of late night musical performances when he enlisted the help of Jennifer Hudson to perform songs that they knew CBS couldn’t be charged for on the Late Late Show Monday night (Apr. 4, 2016).

“Ladies and gentlemen, if there’s one thing I love, I love singing well-known songs. And if there’s one thing CBS doesn’t love, it’s me spending money on the rights to those songs,” Corden explained to the crowd. “So tonight, we’re presenting a medley of some of the hottest public domain songs around.”

The duo took turned “Skip to My Lou” into a soulful hit before making “If You’re Happy and You Know It” into a gospel smash. Meanwhile, “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” was transformed into a rap hit that could very well end up on your fave’s next mixtape.
