Instant Follow Friday: Happy 27th Birthday to The 1975’s Bae Matt Healy
Healy is the lead singer (and rhythm guitarist) of British band The 1975, who released their amazing second album I Like It When You Sleep, for You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware of It back in February.
This summer, the band is scheduled to play nine festivals, including the Firefly Music Festival in June, Glastonbury Festival in June, Lollapalooza in July, the Reading and Leeds Festivals in August.
Healy played a part in writing the lyrics and composing all of the songs off the album, which includes the singles “Love Me,” “UGH!,” “The Sound,” “Somebody Else,” and “A Change of Heart.” Ultimately, that makes the songs super raw and personal, which is why we as fans feel so close and connected to Healy’s music.
Healy’s Instagram is an aesthetically pleasing account of his experience on tour with his band as well as a perfect representation of why he’s so effing cool. Encompassing art and music, fashion and glam rock, the world through Healy’s eyes is not only interesting but gorgeous.

As for his Instagram handle @TrumanBlack, Healy explained in an interview with Rough, “I chose Truman Black because I was reading In Cold Blood at the time and I think I was kind of just like slightly obsessed with Truman Capote…and that’s where the first name came from and I think that Black was quite obvious to me because of my style.”
