WATCH: Carly Rae Jepsen Released Music Video for ‘Boy Problems’
Carly Rae Jepsen dropped the video her most addictive pop gem to date.
Jepsen’s new music video for “Boy Problems” is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to drama with the fellas set to a bouncy, funky, R&B beat. Her ability to meld the familiar themes of heartbreak with a throwback melody is yet another reason why she’s one of the best and most underrated pop songwriters working today.
Throughout the video, the pop songstress and a gang of lovelorn friends lounge and weep and, well, stare at mobile devices in a landscape of stylized lighting and elaborate costumes.
But the real star of the video is the infectious track, which is both modern and readily tipping its hat to the pop creators of yesteryear like Michael Jackson and Nile Rodgers. And let’s be honest: that baseline is out of control.
Also, Carly’s pixie mullet thing is really working out.
