Zooey Deschanel Thinks Everyones Obsession with Post-Baby Bodies is ‘Odd’
The New Girl star makes an accurate observation.
Zooey Deschanel may be a new mom in Hollywood, but she’s refusing to fall prey to unrealistic post-baby body expectations. In fact, she thinks the fact that new moms expect to look like their old selves right away is straight up weird.
“To expect someone to look like her pre-baby self immediately is odd,” she told Redbook. “Because you just grew a human and then birthed that human—there’s a lot that needs to go back to where it was.” Just in case you needed any more convincing, Deschanel presents this very truthful argument. “All your organs move around, for chrissakes!”
Other than giving her a healthy dose of body confidence, the May cover girl admits having a baby has made her feel like more of an adult than ever before. “I’ve never really felt like an adult,” said the actress, who’s the star of her own show. “But I think it’s a huge accomplishment to have a child, so maybe I feel like an adult for that reason!”
