WATCH: Chris Brown Opens up About Assaulting Rihanna in New Documentary Trailer, ‘I Felt Like a F**king Monster’

Chris Brown isn’t so “breezy” when it comes to matters of his past.

The hip-hop and R&B singer gets candid in a new trailer for the forthcoming documentary on his life and career, Welcome to My Life. Brown discusses the assault on his former girlfriend, Rihanna, back in 2009 and describes his dark state of mind that manifested as a result.

“It’s not really something even myself could really comprehend at the time. That’s dangerous,” he says of his assault.

“I was thinking about suicide … I wasn’t sleeping, I barely ate, I just was getting high.”

He describes their relationship as “a fairy tale”, recognizing that everything that followed was a steep spiral downward.

“I went from being on top of the world, number one songs, being kind of like America’s sweetheart to being Public Enemy No. 1,” says Brown.
