WATCH: Colbert and Kimmel Give More Convincing Apologies to Australia than Johnny Depp and Amber Heard
A well-placed didgeridoo covers a multitude of sin.
We all saw it. Johnny Depp and Amber Heard put on the most water-downed performance of their acting careers in an apology video to Australia for smuggling their dogs into the country, which is an incredible feat given that one half of the couple has built his career on a franchise that is literally set at sea. Late night lords Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel had their fun prodding at Depp after the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia gave the actor a few notes on his performance in an interview with The Guardian.
“I think he’s auditioning for The Godfather,” said PM Barnaby Joyce. “He’s very good at playing every person, except Johnny Depp.”
Colbert went so far as to perform his iteration of their national anthem while totally nailing Depp’s unaffected eye roll.
Meanwhile, Kimmel ran the video through a Snapchat filter and the nonchalance just felt so right.
