Remember when we were all about diversity for a minute?
Jennifer Aniston has been named People magazine’s “Most Beautiful Woman in the World” in 2016, which is her second time having been bestowed the coveted title since her inaugural cover in 2004. She told the magazine that she is “humbled” and “very, very flattered” by the honor.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God’,” said Aniston. “There was this sort of very excited, teenage-y kind of moment.”
She also added that she’s learned to embrace her appearance over the years, insisting that she feels best when she’s “healthy and strong”.
“It’s funny, it’s a really quick transition from not a care and now all of a sudden, we’ve got to really be mindful of what we put inside our bodies,” she says of her health. “And how we sleep and take care of ourselves. You can get away with a lot in your 20s.”
While there’s no denying that Aniston is in fact a beautiful woman, it’s a safe choice on behalf of the publication given that the buzzword surrounding Hollywood this year has been “diversity” (remember #OscarsSoWhite?), that a palate of skin tones has been showcased on television and beyond, and that this is the actress’s second time being handed the accolade.
People‘s “Most Beautiful” issue, featuring Aniston, hits newsstands on Friday, Apr. 22.
