The prolific singer has passed away at the age of 57.

It’s a sad day in the music world as legendary singer Prince has passed away at the age of 57.

The music icon’s body was found at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early on Thursday morning (Apr. 21) after the singer reportedly suffered a medical emergency in Illinois days before. However, Prince resurfaced the next day to appear at his concert and assured fans that he was fine. His camp claimed the singer was combatting the flu, which caused him to cancel two shows earlier in the month.

Though details surrounding Prince’s death is still relatively unknown, it’s clear that the prolific artist made a huge impact on the world with his music. Celebrities flooded social media just hours after his death expressing their condolences.

Prince first made his debut in 1978 debut on the album For You and his 1979 self-titled record paved the way for incredibly iconic hits such as 1999, Purple Rain, Around The World In A Day, Sign O The Times, and Batman.

In his lifetime, Prince sold over 100 million records worldwide. He won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. He also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 BET Awards. Prince concluded his discography with a total of 39 studio albums.
