Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas Cancel Concerts in North Carolina to Protest HB2 Law
This talented duo is standing up for the LGBT community!
Today, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas took a stand, canceling their shows in Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina to show their opposition to the state’s discriminatory HB2 law, which allows private businesses to lawfully refuse to hire or serve members of the LGBT community.
Lovato made the announcement via Twitter, where they explained their tough decision.
“One of our goals for the tour has always been to create an atmosphere where every single attendee feels equal, included and accepted for who they are,” they wrote. “North Carolina’s discriminatory HB2 law is extremely disappointing, and it takes away some of the LGBT community’s rights and protections. But we will not allow this to stop us from continuing to make progress for equality and acceptance.”

While we know this couldn’t have been easy, it’s inspiring to see performers take action instead of merely commenting on injustice!
