This Is Why Calvin Harris Isn’t Collaborating with Taylor Swift

Don’t expect Calvin Harris to make sweet music with Taylor Swift anytime soon.

Despite recently releasing a new track with Rihanna, the DJ isn’t itching to work with his girlfriend of one year. According to Harris, 32, the thought of ever collaborating with the “New Romantics” songstress hasn’t even crossed their minds yet.

“You know, we haven’t even spoken about it,” he tells On-Air with Ryan Seacrest, explaining that he currently “working with people that [he] loves working with.” He adds, “I can’t see it happening though. No. She’s about to take a long break.”

However, that doesn’t mean Swift, 26, isn’t a fan of Harris’ work. The singer was spotted fangirling in the crowd when the EDM star hit the stage at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival earlier this month. Rihanna, who is featured on “This Is What You Came For,” also made an appearance during the first weekend.

“[Rihanna] has this iconic voice, and when you give her a certain type of song to sing, it’s just next level,” Harris explains of why he chose to work with Rihanna again after 2011’s “We Found Love,” adding that they began production of the track last November. “I’ve always liked the element of surprise.”

As for other collaborations on the horizon? Though Ellie Goulding, who set Harris and Swift up with each other, confirmed she had worked on yet another track with him, the Scot says it’s not ready for public consumption just yet.

“It’s funny that she said that,” Harris muses. “We have like half a track. I don’t know about the other half. You know when you have half a track? You’re not really sure sometimes how to make a full track.”

Guess someone has some work to do.
