Selena Gomez Doesn’t Just Want to Be Known for Who She’s Dated or Her Personal Life, Thank You Very Much
Selena Gomez has a very famous ex, he who must not be named. And for obvious reasons, she’s sick of being talked about just for her personal life.
I would try to promote something that I loved, and the entire interview would be about my personal life. I would leave a room feeling defeated, feeling embarrassed, but I would always make sure to put that smile on my face because I wasn’t going to let them get to me.
Rest assured, the 23-year-old is definitely more than just her ex-boyfriend: she’s a tour de force, and a long ways away from her Barney & Friends start at the age of 7.
On how she’s taken control of her career (which spans not only music and television but movies and modeling too), Gomez commented, “I had to not be afraid to ask dumb questions, which means I asked a million things about ever single step that I was making.”
As for how she deals with agents and managers, Gomez said, “Authenticity is my life. They make great choices, but I make the decisions.”
On her Revival tour and upcoming film, Gomez told the magazine her reasons behind working so hard: “I finally just wanted to go for it. I wanted to do things that I knew were going to be me. I don’t want people to look at me as someone who is just this celebrity person.”
And lastly, when it comes to dating nowadays, she reveals:
I’ve been dating. I’ve been having the best time. But I don’t trust anybody, so dating can only be fun if I know I’m going to have fun.
In other words, she’s pretty busy with her career and super-success right now.
