Lupita Nyong’o in Talks to Play a Love Interest for ‘Black Panther’

We’re totally on board with this.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Lupita Nyong’o is in negotiations to join Marvel Studios’ spinoff Black Panther, starring Chadwick Boseman and written and directed by Creed’s Ryan Coogler.

Not a whole lot of detail on the movie’s plot at this point, but Nyong’o would reportedly play a love interest for T’Challa, a warrior king from Wakanda, the fictitious African nation known to be rich in an unbreakable alloy called vibranium. T’Challa uses this vibranium to make his Black Panther suit, and it helps keep him invincible when fighting, as we saw in Captain America: Civil War.

Black Panther is slated to be released February 2, 2018.

N’yongo, who won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her devastating turn in 12 Years a Slave, just voiced the wolf Raksha in Disney’s The Jungle Book and will be seen next in the studio’s drama Queen of Katwe, in theaters September. Check out the trailer!
