Johnny Depp Releases Statement on ‘False Stories’ Surrounding Divorce from Amber Heard

Don’t believe the gossip, folks.

Johnny Depp has released a statement on his divorce from Amber Heard, as well as the numerous “false stories” that have arisen in the wake of the announcement.

Depp’s rep said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday (May 26):

Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life. Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.

Heard, 30, filed for divorce from the Pirates of the Caribbean actor on Monday (May 23), citing irreconcilable differences. She is also asking for spousal support.

On Wednesday, Depp filed a response to Heard’s request, asking a court to determine that he should not pay spousal support to his estranged wife of 15 months – and that she pay her own attorney fees.

They wed in February 2015.
