Liam Hemsworth on His Relationship with Miley Cyrus: ‘People Will Figure It Out, They Already Have’

The Aussie A-lister hints at his relationship status with the pop songstress.

Liam Hemsworth is no longer the fresh-faced Hollywood newcomer, but experience has taught the leading man how to navigate the fractious gauntlet of the entertainment industry, and he’s clearly a survivor. The 26-year-old spoke with GQ Australia recently about finding global fame with The Hunger Games franchise, surviving swarming paparazzi and whether or not he and former fiancée Miley Cyrus have patched things up.

“People will figure it out, they already have… They’re not dumb,” Hemsworth said, perhaps acknowledging that the once-betrothed couple is once again planning to tie the knot.

The Independence Day: Resurgence actor also discussed the couple’s painful split in 2013 and why it was necessary. “Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen. We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time – we both needed that.”

In the interview, Hemsworth explained going from a no-name Australian actor to a global star with the arrival of the Hunger Games films.

“We had an idea coming into it [that it would be big] as the books had such a massive fan base, like Twilight. So we knew people would see it. But when we did the first press tour – that was when it really hit. We’d do premieres all over the world and they were just mind-blowing.”

Now, Liam seems to exude a laid-back self-assuredness that only experience can supply, trusting his intuition and avoiding the hearsay.

“I don’t read or listen to the press – and these days I don’t base my decisions on it at all. I base all my decisions on what’s happening in front of me and I’m much happier by doing that.”
