Ryan Gosling Thinks ‘Women Are Better Than Men’

Hey girl, Ryan Gosling thinks you’re pretty awesome.

The Canadian heartthrob believes that embracing femininity is a powerful thing. As if the viral Feminist Ryan Gosling meme isn’t already enough proof for you, the actor is opening up about the powerful women in his life to explain why girls indeed run the world.

“I think women are better than men. They are stronger. More evolved,” he tells ES Magazine. “You can tell especially when you have daughters and you see their early stages, they are just leaps and bounds beyond boys immediately.”

The 35-year-old, who has two daughters with actress Eva Mendes, also adds that it’s time for America to have a female president, though he doesn’t necessarily name anyone in particular for the POTUS position.

“I think it needs a woman’s touch. I’ve always liked women more. I was brought up by my mother and older sister,” he says. “My home life now is mostly women. They are better than us. They make me better.”

Unlike some other actors in Hollywood, Gosling believes that male objectification isn’t that big of an issue compared to the struggles many women face in society.

“It’s our time as men to be on the receiving end of the stick,” he says.”When my mother and I walked to the grocery story, men would circle the block in cars. It was very scary, especially as a young boy. Very predatory; a hunt.”

Previously, Gosling spoke about how supporting strong women in his life is now “more important” than ever since welcoming his eldest daughter, Esmeralda.

“I have very strong female characters in my life. I grew up with strong women and the amount of them grows exponentially as time goes on, in my world. And that’s my reality. So, I just tend to gravitate towards stories with strong female characters,” he told Sunday Style in 2015, adding that “it’s not a conscious thing” when being named the poster boy of feminism. “But I do have a little girl now and it’s important to me. These things are becoming… not more important to me, but more important in general, I think.”
