Blake Shelton Opens Up About How His Romance with Gwen Stefani Began
It was a little chaotic at first.
Shelton recently gave a candid interview with Rolling Stone magazine, explaining, “We were starting The Voice last year, and I had to sit down and go, ‘Look, by the time this thing airs, my life will have completely changed, and we need to talk about this now because it may affect what we talk about on the show,’” referring to his divorce from wife Miranda Lambert last July. “I just felt like there doesn’t need to be secrets.”
He added that fellow Voice co-worker Stefani was also going through a divorce at the same time from husband Gavin Rossdale. “We just started to develop a friendship after that,” Blake told Rolling Stone. “And it took a while, because it’s chaos. But just over time, seeing each other a lot at work, it just kind of developed into that.”
Now, their romance inspires them both in their music, especially for Shelton’s latest album, If I’m Honest, which includes the couple’s duet, “Go Ahead and Break My Heart.”
“As I was making the record, other developments were happening. I was spending some time with Gwen all of a sudden, and she became my closest ally, my friend, my person in my life who had my back, and I had hers,” he shared. “And [I] created this bond with somebody that I never would have thought in a million years.”
Awww, so sweet! Of course, there are more than enough rumors going around about the status of their relationship (are they engaged?) and if they are starting a family (is Gwen pregnant?)
But Stefani herself recently pulled the brakes on the baby thing, laughing about all the gossip. “Can you imagine the amount of gossipy, weird stories people make up?” said Stefani. “To me, it makes me laugh every day.
