Girl power on the rise!

On the heels of an all-female Ghostbusters, now we’re getting a new, female-driven take on those Ocean’s Eleven heists.

According to The Playlist, Cate Blanchett is in negotiations to join star Sandra Bullock in the reboot, tentatively titled Ocean’s Ocho (because there will only be eight thieves instead of 11), with Gary Ross directing.

The film is an extension of the original Ocean’s Eleven, as Bullock’s character is related to George Clooney’s Danny Ocean (his ex-con sister). She and her bestie, played by Blanchett (think Brad Pitt’s Rusty), form a team of thieves to steal a necklace from the Met Ball in order to frame a villainous gallery owner. Shooting is expected to begin this fall.

Blanchett is also gearing up to play the villain in Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, in theaters November 2017.
