The Only Summer Throwback Playlist You Need, Picked by Your Favorite Millennium Artists
Kick back and relax—your faves have picked your faves.
If you missed the Backstreet Boys’ tour and can’t wait for the Spice Girls to get their sh*t together (paging Victoria Beckham), we have the perfect solution. 98 Degrees, Ryan Cabrera, O-Town, and Dream are headed out on a nostalgia-packed tour this summer and, chances are, they’re coming to a city near you.
Beginning on July 8 in Park City, Kansas, the groups will embark on a nationwide concert-hop through the end of August across cities including Houston, Nashville, Cincinnati, Atlantic City, and Brooklyn. You can get your tickets here, but as an added bonus, Dream’s Ashley Poole, O-Town’s Jacob Underwood, and Cabrera compiled a playlist of their favorite songs from the early millennium to remind you where you came from.
One of Poole’s picks was “Country Grammar” by Nelly. “This song makes me feel like a kid in the summer,” he recalls. “I remember our manager at the time saying, ‘The guy Nelly is about to blow up.’ Sure enough, HE DID!! Little did we know we’d be touring with him in the future and he was the nicest guy ever!”
Underwood says that “Peaches and Cream” was “one of the coolest songs out at the time.” “I think everyone still has a hard time not dancing or singing along when that one comes on,” he said.
“I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to hear ‘Bye, Bye, Bye’ and not automatically bust out into the dance!” laughs Cabrera. “And the Songs About Jane album by Maroon 5 was like the soundtrack to my life in the early 2000s!!”
Listen to the rest of their favorite tracks below, and head over to the My2K website to secure your tickets before they’re all gone.
