Here’s the First BTS Photo of Melissa McCarthy as Sookie on ‘Gilmore Girls’

Fans Will 'Write the Angry Letters — or the Love Letters'

Her trademark bandana is back, too.

The first photo of Melissa McCarthy reprising her role as Sookie St. James on Netflix’s Gilmore Girls reboot is here, and it’s giving us all the feels.

The show’s costume supervisor Brenda Maben posted a behind-the-scenes snap of McCarthy alongside a suited up Yanic Truesdale (who plays Michel, The Dragonfly Inn’s front desk person).

McCarthy is seen wearing her trademark duds (a bandana and what looks like a chef’s jacket):

It’s a relief to not only hear that McCarthy is reprising her role, but to also see her physically, actually back on set especially in light of those early reports (you know, the ones in which she wasn’t asked back, or the ones saying she was too busy to take part…).

McCarthy, who played Sookie for seven years between 2000-2007, told Us Weekly back in April that returning to Gilmore Girls was “sentimental.”

I went back and visited about two weeks ago and saw the sets again and everybody on them and it just felt — oh, my God, I get so sentimental. It felt like the greatest idea in the world. It was just lovely. It was just lovely.

Maben also shared a photo of her and Matt Czuchry (Logan Huntzberger, aka Rory’s ex-boyfriend) looking studly:

Pretty much all of the entire original cast will be reprising their roles on Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and then some.

Meanwhile, yesterday Milo Ventimiglia, aka Jess (Rory’s other ex-boyfriend and her OTP, to be honest), said that fans should go in with an open mind when it comes to Jess and Rory.

I think people should kind of couch all their expectations and hide their wants and just let the stories unfold. And from there they can write the angry letters or the love letters.

Gilmore Girls is expected to drop on Netflix sometime before the year’s end, so we’ll keep you posted on the release date when we know.
