WATCH: Lin-Manuel Miranda Describes a Segment from His New Improv Show, ‘Freestyle Love Supreme’

This dude is never not interesting.

Lin-Manuel Miranda is preparing for post-Hamilton life by previewing his upcoming improv show, Freestyle Love Supreme, which will make its debut on NBC’s new online platform, Seeso. The show will feature “hip-hop-infused” performances where his improv group of the same name will riff off of inspiration from audience suggestions.

In the preview video below, Miranda explains how a segment entitled “Mic Check” was born during his early years of comedy to an FLS group member, Anthony Veneziale.

“I think it started out of necessity,” says Miranda. “It was a good way for us to actually check the sound of our microphones while flexing our brains and sort of testing out the room, testing out suggestions, showing the audience that we were really making it up as we go along.”

“It kind of became a great way of introducing the audience to who we were. We’re going to get one word and we’re going to just do it based on what you say.”

Episodes will begin streaming on July 23. Watch a preview clip in the player below.
