Located smack dab in the middle of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, The District by Hannah An, is the place to dine if you’re in the mood for some amazing elevated Vietnamese-inspired cuisine.
The restaurant recently launched an all new Spring menu which is inspired by chef and owner Hannah An seasonal traditional Vietnamese cooking with a modern twist.
I had the chance to taste some of the new items on the Spring menu and let me tell you, they were delicious! Some of my favorite from the tasting included the Saigon calamari (not you ordinary calamari, as it has a little kick to it), grilled octopus (it was slightly sweet, but not chewy like some octopus can be), rice paper spring rolls (so light and flavorful), Hannah An’s famous garlic noodles and crab legs (which were pre-cracked, and were coated with a well-seasoned basil-mint pesto sauce.
The new Spring menu (with items added to lunch/dinner, and brunch menus) features fresh, light dishes incorporating traditional Vietnamese herbs with Hannah’s secret sauce recipes, creating Hannah’s signature modern umami flavors, including Vietnamese Herb Bone Marrow (charred onion, comte cheese & herbs), Oven Roasted Oysters with Vietnamese Herbs with bacon, gruyere, shallots, and Hannah’s garlic-lime sauce, Imperial Spicy Beef Soup Bun Bo (authentic center region of Vietnam holiday soup, spicy beef lemongrass broth & spices), Shaken Chicken (Wok chicken breast cubes with fresh herbs, veggies, and mushrooms in a traditional Vietnamese herb sauce) and Foie Gras French Toast (almond butter, maple syrup & spicy guava puree), to name a very few.
If you are so inclined, make sure to order the “Hot Asian” cocktail, which features Loft & Bear vodka that is infused with lemongrass, organic Vietnamese chili agave, chili tincture & lime zest. Simply outstanding.
Dessert lovers will not be disappointed either! I got to sample three desserts from the menu — pineapple bread pudding (even non-bread pudding lovers will enjoy this one), lemongrass crème brûlée and banana tapioca!
The menu will also be featured at the launch of The District Live – The “Dinner and a Show” weekly musical dinner theater series launching in May with lineups curated by partners Billboard & Hollywood Reporter, produced by Joey Sapone and artisanal bottle service by Loft & Bear Vodka.
