‘Star Trek’ Actor Anton Yelchin Killed in Bizarre Car Accident
This is so sad.
Anton Yelchin, best known for playing the younger Chekov in the recent Star Trek series, was found dead at his home early Sunday morning after apparently being pinned by his car in a freak accident. He was 27.
TMZ reports Yelchin’s friends were worried when he didn’t show up to meet them, and when they went to his San Fernando Valley house around 1AM, they found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox, attached to a security gate.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ “the engine was running when his body was discovered, and the car was in neutral. The driveway was on a fairly steep incline.”
Yelchin started his career as a child actor in films such as Along Came a Spider and Hearts in Atlantis. He gained notice though when he starred in the crime drama Alpha Dog in 2006. He has also starred in indies such as Like Crazy, Charlie Bartlett and most recently, the excellent horror thriller Green Room.
Yelchin has also starred in his fair share of big-budget movies such voicing the main character in The Smurf movies, the Star Trek franchise and Terminator Salvation. The latest Star Trek movie, Star Trek Beyond. is set to hit theaters July 22.
