What a nice Father’s Day this will be for Eddie!

Eddie Redmayne and wife Hannah Bagshawe welcomed their first child last week, a daughter named Iris May Redmayne, reports E! News.

Redmayne and Bagshawe, who were married in December, 2014, let the public know they were going to be parents just one year later, as the awards season kicked off. Redmayne was nominated multiple times for his role as transgender painter Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl. He won the Best Actor Oscar in 2015 for his performance as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything.

At the SAG Awards, the soon-to-be-dad opened up to E! News about getting everything ready before the birth. “It’s quite a few months away, but we started looking at all the logistics. The list of things you’re meant to get before going to the hospital, and it’s a long list of stuff right there!”

He continued, “We have this sort of dream of like wooden toys, and all that, and everyone’s like, ‘Yeah you always start off like that, but you end up with like iPhones!'”

Redmayne will be seen next in the Harry Potter prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, in which he plays an eccentric wizard traveling to NYC in the 1920s to and ends up having to retrieve some beasties who have escaped. Watch the trailer below!
