WATCH: Selena Gomez and James Corden Talk Boyfriends, Taylor Swift’s ‘Sexist’ Girl Squad on Carpool Karaoke
The 23-year-old sang a variety of her Revival songs like “Same Old Love”, “Kill Em With Kindness”, and “Hands to Myself”, including, not to mention, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” Corden asked what it was like being in Swift’s girl squad, and she commented, “I’d like to consider myself an OG, like the original.”
“Who takes the minutes at the meetings?” Corden asked.
“What are we meeting about?” Gomez asked.
“I don’t know! I’m not in the squad. I’ve never been asked to join the squad,” Corden said, before joking he thought the squad was a little sexist for having no men in it. “I think the squad is a bit sexist, because it’s all about being equals, and yet no man has been asked to join the squad? I actually find it degrading to men.”
Gomez replied, to our collective *you go girl* cheers, “Well, I think this industry could use a bit of female sexism. I think we have a right to be that way. It’s a lot harder doing what I have to do. I think so.”
Corden asked, “So you’re saying no men in the squad ever?”
“Find me a boyfriend and then we’ll talk about it,” Gomez replied. As for if she’s on the lookout… “Sure! Why not? I don’t know…I like to have fun.”
In addition to talking boys, feminism, and singing, the duo took a little detour to an amusement park, where they rode a roller coaster that nearly made Corden faint. After the ride, they slurped down one of Gomez’s daily staples, a shot of ginger, which nearly made Corden gag.
“Absolutely disgusting,” Corden commented. “How are you just being so cool about this?”
Gomez explained, “It’s killing everything inside.”
To relive their hunger post-shot, they hit up McDonald’s, where some of Gomez’s lyrics are on the cups.
