Blake Lively Cracked Her Nose While Filming ‘The Shallows’

Blake Lively Didn't Want to Be an Actress
Sometimes you just want to do your own thing.

Blake Lively almost broke her nose while filming her latest film, The Shallows.

According to the actress, who is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Ryan Reynolds, she accidentally injured her face during a particularly physical scene. Though she didn’t suffer any broken bones, her bloody nose did end up making it into the thriller.

“There’s a scene in the movie where I’m under [a rusty metal] buoy and I pull up and I crack my nose on the buoy and I have this bloody nose,” she told E! News. “That was not a part of the movie—that something that happened while shooting!”

“That was real,”the 28-year-old continued. “I thought I was either going to pass out or like my nose was going to look like a Picasso painting or I was going to have a really, really cool scene. Luckily, we ended up with a cool scene.”

Lively also added that shooting the film, in which she plays an injured surfer stranded in shark-infested waters, really did take a toll on her body.

“They would paint bruises and cuts on me every day for the first two weeks,” she said. “After the first two weeks I was just covered in them myself.”

Though she did have her work cut out for her, Lively was grateful to be in a film that solely focuses on a female character’s story.

“It’s cool to have that opportunity, especially as a woman to have a character that’s so strong and multifaceted and a role that’s not only emotionally demanding but physically demanding,” she explained. “It’s something that you see for the boys a lot. But to get to be a lady that goes toe-to-toe with an apex predator and she gets to be an apex predator herself, I mean that’s cool.”

The Shallows is due out June 24. Check out some photos from her promotional tour — below!
