Christina Grimmie’s Killer Believed the Singer Was His ‘Soul Mate’
Cory Dennington, a close friend of Christina Grimmie’s murderer, Kevin James Loibl, offers new insight into the killer’s obsession with Grimmie, even claiming Loibl believed the singer was his “soul mate.”
Dennington, who’d been friends with Loibl for 15 years, told police Loibl had become infatuated with Grimmie over the last year. “He said Loibl would not entertain the idea that his plan would not work, and when Dennington did, he threatened to end their friendship,”states a police report obtained by CNN. “Loibl never elaborated on what he would do if he met Christina, but he referred to her as his ‘soul mate.'”
According to Dennington, Loibl, a self described atheist, said he’d found God in Grimmie and insisted the singer’s faith helped him see the world in a different way.
Dennington also revealed Liobl’s recent drastic changes which included a 50 pound weight loss, hair implants, Lasik eye surgery, and teeth whitening were all done in the hopes of catching Grimmie’s attention.
Loibl shot and killed Grimmie at a fan meet-and-greet after a show in Orlando on June 11, 2016. Liobl shot and killed himself soon after being tackled by Grimmie’s brother, Marcus Grimmie.
