Because of Hollywood, Chloë Grace Moretz Wanted a Butt Lift at Age 16

Chloë Grace Moretz opens up about the pressures placed on young women in Hollywood and her mentorship under Hillary Clinton in a new feature interview with ELLE.

The actress reveals that the airbrush on celebrities caused her to consider serious physical alterations at the age of 16. “I wanted a boob job. I wanted the fat pad under my chin to be removed. I wanted a butt reduction, or whatever,” said Moretz. “And my mom said, ‘Absolutely not, you’re not allowed to have plastic surgery.’ And because of that, I found a lot of power within my insecurities. They’re what make me who I am now.”

The new face of Coach discussed the lack of “female empowerment” in America and “how so many girls are afraid to be who they want to be” with Clinton, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee and Moretz’s mentor.

“That’s because of the underlying deep-rooted sexism that’s been anchoring a big part of America, the kind you can see coming out in the Trump campaign,” says Moretz.

Though she knows how to find confidence within herself, Moretz notes that her boyfriend, Brooklyn Beckham, helps her through the days when she could use a cheerleader.

“I don’t need a man for anything, but when I’m feeling bad about myself, he’s like, “Stop. Look at what you say in interviews. Look at what you stand for. Listen to your own words, because you’re as beautiful as you say you are! All young women are more beautiful than they think, you know. And I like you more in sweatpants than I do when you’re on a red carpet.”
