Liam Hemsworth Defends Proposing to Miley Cyrus Four Years Ago
When Liam Hemsworth proposed to Miley Cyrus four years ago when he was just 22 and she 19, there was no they would call off their engagement just a year and a half later. Now that they couple has found their way back to each other after more the two years apart, Hemsworth is defending his decision to get down on one knee in the first place.
Considering Hemsworth and Cyrus’ first engagement ended with a split, it’s not crazy to wonder if the young couple thought they may have rushed into such a big step. But when asked by Australian News Corp if he thought his first proposal was an “impetuous” act, Hemsworth insisted it was quite the opposite.
“I don’t think that was impulsive,” he insisted. “That was a well-thought-out idea.”
While neither Hemsworth nor Cyrus have officially confirmed their engagement is officially back on, considering the singer has been flashing her 3.5 carat engagement ring around for the last few months, we’d say Hemsworth’s “well-thought-out idea” worked out well for them both.
Even though Hemsworth defended his actions, in recent weeks he has admitted the decision to split and their subsequent time apart was difficult. “Of course it was hard, man. But at the time we were going in different directions and it’s just what needed to happen,” he explained to GQ Australia. “We were both super young and it was a good decision at the time—we both needed that.”
Now, the couple seems happier than ever and Cyrus even made their relationship Instagram official.
