Examining Taylor Swift’s First Independence Day with Tom Hiddleston and Her Squad

Where Mariah Carey owns Christmas, Taylor Swift has her chips pooled on the Fourth of July.

Recall every single time that she made Ina Garten’s Flag Cake (and Instagrammed it), hung out with the cast of HAIM (and Instagrammed it), and choreographed a jumping pose holding the Star Spangled Banner.

And Instagrammed it.

This year was no different in considering the star power in attendance. The squad was all there: Blake Lively, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, in addition to Orange Is the New Black stars Uzo Aduba and Ruby Rose, but the Instagram tally was whittled down to one. One photo, one firework, four matching flag onesies, and four red lips.

Squad regular, Selena Gomez, hosted a party of her own, but her absence was supplemented with the presence of Swift’s rumored Calvin Harris replacement, walking clickbait, Tom Hiddleston. The couple was spotted wading in the water at her home in Watch Hill, Rhode Island with the rest of her guests on Sunday, July 3. Hiddleston wore an “I Heart T.S.” tee shirt, which supports the conspiracy theory that their entire romance is being staged for an elaborate music video. There were also security guards lining the property using laser pointers to ruin any of the paparazzi’s shots.
