Kylie Jenner Wants You to Know, Once Again, That She’s Not Who She Is on Snapchat
If you think that Kylie Jenner’s persona on social media represents who she is in real life, congratulations: you played yourself.
Jenner dispels myths about her farcical guise on Snapchat in the forthcoming August issue of Allure magazine. “People think that since we have a reality TV show and I show so much of my life that they know who I am. But on Snapchat I show people what I think they want to see,” explains the lip kit mogul. “That’s not me. It’s a projected image. A brand. I’m not a different person. I just don’t show all of me.”
Jenner attributes a fear of getting hurt to keeping the “real Kylie” private. “I usually don’t show my true personality to the world, because when you open yourself up so much, there’s more room for people to say things about you,” she tells Allure. For this reason, she’s thankful to have such strong family ties.
“Honestly, if I didn’t have my family in my life, and I was going through all of this myself, I don’t know what I would do.”
Jenner previously opened up about the duality of her identity and that of her brand on Snapchat back in May in a series of confessional videos.
Jenner’s sister, Kim Kardashian, sits down with her to ask her about her biggest beauty secrets in an interview for Allure online that yielded some poignant reflections on their beauty blunders.
Kardashian to Jenner: What’s the biggest beauty mistake you’ve ever made?”
KJ: “Well, I definitely made my lips a little too big at one point.”
Kardashian on the physical feature that keeps her awake at night:
“Remember when I lasered my baby hairs? I had awkward baby hairs on my forehead, and every photographer used to Photoshop them out. Sometimes I get really envious of your baby hairs because I think they’re more youthful. I overanalyze it all the time.”
Kardashian to Jenner: “Who is your beauty icon?”
KJ: “I feel like I should say you.”
KKW: “I mean, you don’t have to say it…but I’ll take it!”
Jenner on how the iconic Kardashian salads shaped her second earliest memory:
KKW: “What’s your earliest memory?”
KJ: “I was four. We were in the old El Dorado house, and Khloé was like, ‘It’s your birthday today! Hold up your fingers and tell me how many you are.’ And being grounded because I wouldn’t eat my salad.”
