WATCH: Kim Kardashian Explains Why She Trash-Talked Taylor Swift after ‘Famous’ Feud
Kim Kardashian explains why she decided to speak out against Taylor Swift and publicly come to Kanye West’s defense during his and Swift’s “Famous” feud after his album The Life of Pablo came out in February.
In case you forgot, Kardashian told GQ last month that not only was there video evidence of Swift approving of the lyric in “Famous” (“I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex, why? I made that bitch famous”), but that Swift initially planned to be in on the joke too:
It was funny because [on the call with Kanye, Taylor] said, ‘When I get on the Grammy red carpet, all the media is going to think that I’m so against this, and I’ll just laugh and say, ‘The joke’s on you, guys. I was in on it the whole time.’ And I’m like, wait, but [in] your Grammy speech, you completely dissed my husband just to play the victim again.
“I never talk s–t about anyone publicly, especially in interviews. But I was just like I had so had it. I just felt like I wanted to defend him in it because it’s like, she legitimately says, ‘As soon as I get on that Grammy red carpet I’m gonna tell all the press. Like I was in on it.'”
Kourtney replied, “And she just doesn’t like the reaction?”
“And you know just another way to play the victim,” Kim added. “It definitely got her a lot of attention the first time…” she commented, referencing the 2009 MTV VMA’s when West interrupted Swift’s acceptance speech after she won for Best Female Video category for “You Belong To Me,” beating out Beyoncé‘s “Single Ladies.”
“I just don’t think he should be punished for it still to this day,” Kim remarked, adding:
I feel like I’ve had it with people blatantly treating my husband a certain way, making him look a certain way. Kanye is always so honest and speaks his mind. And you know, when we were first dating, people would always talk s–t and he always had my back. At this point, I really don’t give a f–k so I’ll do whatever to protect my husband.
She added to Kourtney, “Yeah, Kanye, you know, definitely hurt her years ago when he did that, but like it wasn’t meant to be personal. It could have been anyone. We all know ‘Single Ladies’ was the biggest song of the year. So when she didn’t win he just wanted to stand up for her.”
