‘Live’ Exec Treats Fred Savage to Swanky Meal — Is He the Frontrunner to Replace Michael Strahan?

Michael Strahan Opens Up About Life After 'Live!' with Kelly Ripa
Michael Strahan is getting used to life after Live.

Well, this is awfully curious…

Although Fred Savage has frequently filled the void, Michael Strahan left when he abruptly departed Live with Kelly and Michael, a new development certainly seems to indicate that the former Wonder Years star could be Kelly Ripa’s new full-time co-host.

He took me on a date,” Savage announced this morning (July 14, 2016), unabashedly discussing show executive Art Moore’s choice to take the actor-turned-TV-host out to dinner recently. “He bought me drinks, he paid, it was really nice, he was a real gentleman.”

“Oh boy, is he eyeballing you?” Ripa jokingly replied, “There are seven other co-hosts watching this at home saying, ‘He didn’t take me out on a date!’”

Other names floated for the prestigious co-hosting slot reportedly include Andy Cohen, Anderson Cooper and Jeff Gordon. Yes, that Jeff Gordon.

After the taping today, ET asked Savage about possibly landing the coveted job and he got pretty tight-lipped.

You know, I come in, they call me when they need me,” he said. “I enjoy it so much. I love interacting with the audience. I love sitting beside Kelly — to work with someone who’s just at the top of her field is a thrill, so it’s all enjoyable.”
