10 Things You Don’t Know About the New Han Solo, Alden Ehrenreich

It’s official!

Alden Ehrenreich has been confirmed as young Han Solo for the upcoming standalone Star Wars film. After all the speculation as to who would take on the role made famous by Harrison Ford, the news was officially announced in London on Sunday (July 17, 2016) during the Future Filmmaker Panel at the Star Wars Celebration Europe 2016.

Although Miles Teller, Emory Cohen, and Ansel Elgort were all in the running for the role, the shortlist only included Jack Reynor, Taron Egerton, and Ehrenreich. However, it was the 26-year-old who caught the director’s attention the moment he walked in.

The plot will reportedly follow Solo’s life before the 1977 Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope, which is why the franchise needed a young, new rising star. Ehrenreich is even being dubbed “the new Leonardo DiCaprio” according to some film critics.
