Nick Jonas Reveals He Feared Losing Demi Lovato to Drugs
Nick Jonas opens up about the "meltdown" Demi Lovato had a couple of years back.

Though tourmates Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato are BFFs, they don’t always see eye-to-eye. Case in point: Jonas’ ex-girlfriend, Olivia Culpo.

In their joint cover story for Bilboard magazine, the duo candidly spoke about their respective love lives. When the topic of Jonas’ Last Year Was Complicated, which was heavily inspired by the singer’s breakup with his ex, came up, Lovato had a few things to say about Jonas’ former ladylove.

“I internalize things, so we have this rule that we never want to hear about it in a tweet or something. She’d read me the riot act, so she’s the third person I call — my dad, Joe [Jonas], then Demi. She was like, ‘Just go, create and be free,'” Jonas said. “She also said some other things…”

“I go, ‘Honestly, I didn’t like her anyway,'” Lovato quipped. “It’s not because she’s mean or anything, but he has such a great sense of humor and I want him to be with someone that makes him laugh.”

In the same interview, Lovato, who split with longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama this June after six years of dating, also had a few thoughts on how her friend should handle his single status.

“I’m in a bizarre time in my life where I’m single, but that has been tricky. And she likes drama, so I’m able to talk about my dating shit without feeling bad,” Jonas admitted.

Lovato added, “He’s a guy in his 20s and he’s famous and he likes to have a lot of fun. Listen, even when he was in a relationship, I was like, ‘Get out of that. You could fuck anybody that you want right now, so have fun and do that.'”

As for Lovato’s own love life, she shared that she won’t be looking for something serious anytime soon.

“It’s not on my mind, but I welcome anything,” she revealed. “I’ll have fun. But a relationship … I won’t want that for a long time.”
