Jared Padalecki Explains Why He Doesn’t Have a ‘Bigger Part’ in the ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival

Those who ship Rory and Dean will be disappointed to learn that Jared Padalecki will only actually play a small part in the upcoming Gilmore Girls revival on Netflix. According to the actor, his character isn’t going to around his ex-girlfriend’s life all that much.

“There will always be some fans who are unhappy, but I think they’ll be pleased with it,” he tells Us Weekly about the forthcoming four-parter, which will be a continuation of Gilmore Girls’ seven-season run that ended in 2007.

“Amy didn’t come back to fuck it up — she came back to do it right, and she did it right,” he continues, referring to original showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino. “And I get to watch it on August 1 because I get to do my voice-over and stuff like that.”

Though Padalecki would’ve loved to see his character more in Rory’s life, Dean’s part has been reduced due scheduling conflicts. In fact, Padalecki says he was only on set for a day.

“It was fun,” he says of his time shooting the reboot. “I wanted to be a bigger part — I think they wanted me to be a bigger part of it as well. But it was shot during Supernatural, so I only did one day. But in that one day, it was a really good amount of stuff I got to do, and explained a lot.”

Previously, actor David Sutcliffe, who plays Rory’s dad Christopher, revealed that — spoiler alert — his onscreen daughter does not end up with Dean. “You know, I liked all the young actors that played her boyfriends,” he told USA Today. “I know they’re not going to end up together but, Rory and Dean seem like a good couple.”

So basically, the only two potential love interested for Rory are Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan (Matt Czuchry). Start placing your bets, people!
