Anton Yelchin’s Parents Plan to Sue Over His Death

The parents of Anton Yelchin, the Star Trek actor who was killed in an automobile accident, are planning to sue Fiat Chrysler and any other companies that could have tangentially contributed to his untimely death in June.

TMZ reports that his parents are suing Fiat Chrysler, the company that made his 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee; its manufacturer, ZF North America; and the AutoNation car retailer, from whom he presumably bought the car. Yelchin’s family plans to sue “for the wrongful death of their son due to significant defects.”

Yelchin was killed when his Cherokee rolled backwards at his home and pinned him against a security gate. A class action lawsuit was filed against Fiat Chrysler following his death that claimed that Yelchin’s Cherokee had a faulty e-shift, which causes the driver to think that their car is in park when it’s in neutral.
