‘Walking Dead’ Star Norman Reedus on Season 7: ‘Our World Is Turned Upside Down’
The TV star hints at a lot more trouble ahead besides Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and his Saviors…
Norman Reedus, the actor behind Daryl Dixon on The Walking Dead, recently spoke with Entertainment Weekly about returning to that scene with Negan and what fans can expect to see as the forthcoming season progresses.
“It was exhausting, and it was no fun,” Reedus said of filming the aftermath of the villain’s cliffhanger attack. “You know, we always come back to this show every season, and we’re like, ‘Yeah, let’s get back into it!’ You know, all the actors are excited to be here and see each other and get back into where they were. But this was one of those where it’s like, “Oh, fuck. Here we go.”
Like the show’s creator Robert Kirkman did recently, Reedus explained that now that Negan has entered the narrative, the apple cart is officially upset, and fans should expect to see some real shifts on the show.
“I mean, it’s a brand new world right now. It’s a complete change of power. Our whole world has been turned upside down, and that group of people have been fighting to have their feet firmly on the ground and have some sort of direction to live in and some sort of code to live by and moral compass, and they thought they were doing it okay, you know?” he said.
And if Negan and “Lucille” (his barbwire-wrapped baseball bat) aren’t unnerving enough, the TV star hinted that the show’s tight-knit group is about to face other hardships as well.
“Other things happen that completely destroy people. The group is completely broken apart at this point. Negan has come in and completely shaken up everything. Loyalties are broken, belief in one another, belief in ourselves. Each individual is completely broken, and they don’t all handle it the exact same way.”
Pretty grim…and yet we can’t wait!
Season 7 of The Walking Dead premieres on Oct. 23, 2016 at 9 p.m. ET on AMC.
