Azealia Banks Promises to Quit Social Media ‘for Good’ This Time
Azealia Banks is quitting social media.
The rapper, who has sabotaged her career over the past few years because of her controversial presence on Twitter, revealed she is shutting down all her social media accounts. In a Facebook post, she explains why she decided to end her relationship with the internet.
“I’m seriously tired of peoples feelings,” Banks, 25, wrote. “I’m tired of seeing their overly sensitive reactions and responses to everything. I’m tired of having everything I say or do be monitored and I’m tired of being told how I should be behaving.”
“I’m quitting Facebook, and any other form of social media that allows me to engage with people. My legacy can’t live and die on the Internet. Goodbye. For good,” she concluded.
Back in May, Banks’ Twitter account was suspended after she tweeted a series of racial and homophobic slurs at Zayn Malik. Although she later apologized to the former One Direction singer, she consequently lost a headlining gig at the U.K. festival Born & Bred.
