Bradley Cooper Was Surprised by the Backlash Following His Appearance at the DNC

Bradley Cooper Angers Republican 'American Sniper' Fans by Showing Up at the DNC
Bradley Cooper apparently surprised many right-wing fans when he made an appearance at the DNC.

The A-list actor talks about his reaction when fans angrily commented on him popping up in Philadelphia last week.

Bradley Cooper went on The Late Late Show with James Corden where he briefly discussed the upheaval he felt on social media from conservatives after he attended the Democratic National Convention.

“I was not expecting that,” he answered when questioned about the backlash. “Republicans were up in arms that I was there watching the president speak.”

It appears that Cooper’s participation in the film American Sniper, based on the life U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, had some moviegoers convinced that he was a Republican. So when he showed up at the DNC to hear President Barack Obama speak, conservative Americans saw it as a type of betrayal; some Twitter users even claimed they plan to boycott Cooper’s films now.

Other Twitterers have countered that Cooper is an actor and his depiction of a soldier is not an endorsement.
