Kim Kardashian’s Short Hair Is Fake, Y’all

Kim Kardashian recently turned heads when she debuted a shorter ‘do while attending her sister Kylie Jenner’s birthday party. Though fans everywhere fell head-over-heels for Kardashian’s summer-appropriate “lob”, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star’s her hair transformation wasn’t actually real at all.

“I’ve been saying for SO long that I want to cut my hair, so the day before Kylie’s event for Kylie Cosmetics I decided to achieve the look a different way: a wig!” Kardashian wrote on her app. “Everyone is saying I chopped my hair, but it’s all an illusion!”

Chris Appleton did this look and I’m so obsessed,” she continued. “He cut the wig into a lob and then made it SUPER straight and blunt.”

So, how can us plebes recreate her hairstyle ourselves? Kardashian had her hairstylist walk fans through the process.

Step 1: Moisturize

Appleton first prepped Kardashian’s hair by applying a cream to her brunette locks. He recommended using Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream.

Step 2: Smooth

For super smooth and pin straight hair, Appleton used a blow dryer — like the Kardashian Beauty Blow Dryer. “Create a deep side part and blow-dry hair smooth,” he advised.

Step 3: Straighten

Next, Appleton applied a hot straightener — he said to use the Kardashian Beauty Flat Iron — to the ends of the hair “to enhance the blunt finish.”

Step 4: Gloss

To prevent the hair from drying out, Appleton used a hair oil. He said to splurge on a “good” one like Jen Atkin’s Ouai Hair Oil.

Step 5: Set

He said, “To complete the look, use hairspray on the ends and then iron to get a clean finish!” He used L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hair Spray.
