Here’s What the Beautiful People Will Be Eating at the 2016 Emmy Awards Governors Ball
Awards show fashion is overrated. The food at the annual Governors Ball immediately following the Emmys telecast is where the magic lives.
Patina Catering will be presenting Kevin Spacey and Taraji P. Henson with an elegant menu at the dinner reception on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016, whether the Academy acknowledges their excellence in acting with a trophy or not. Inspired by the theme “Nature’s Elegance,” Patina’s Founder and Group Master Chef Joachim Splichal, Executive Chef of Culinary Gregg Wiele, and Executive Pastry Chef Frania Mendivil have developed a rustic, from-the-earth menu by working with local foragers and farmers for nearly a year.
“It is my honor and absolute pleasure to work with the Television Academy on this prestigious event for the 21st year,” says Splichal, whose team returns for their twenty-first consecutive Governors Ball and Creative Arts Balls. “Our vision for this year’s dinner extends beyond the plate; it begins with an intention to maintain the quality and integrity of the ingredients we have sourced from the farmers and foragers we rely on as partners and friends. As we honor the source, we pay homage to a new concept of luxury—we celebrate the true elegance of nature.”
This year, the Emmys will set a record by holding three separate balls taking place over back-to-back weekends. The Governors Ball expects 3,800 guests while a combined total of 7,400 members of Hollywood’s elite will be treated by Patina’s service the next weekend at the Creative Arts Balls.
