Movie About the Murder of JonBenét Ramsey Finally Coming to Lifetime
It’s been 20 years since the beaten and strangled body of 6-year-old Colorado beauty pageant contestant JonBenét Ramsey was found in the basement of her home – and now there’s going to be a TV movie centered on the shocking unsolved crime.
According to People, the movie is tentatively titled Who Killed JonBenét? and will debut in November on Lifetime. It stars Eion Bailey (Band of Brothers) as the lead detective on the case, along with Michel Gill (Mr. Robot) and Julia Campbell (Awkward.) as JonBenét’s parents John and Patsy Ramsay. Newcomer Payton Lepinski will be portraying JonBenét.
When the little girl was found dead on Christmas Day in 1996, eight hours after she had been reported missing, it captured the nation’s attention. Pictures of JonBenet all dolled up for her beauty pageant competitions gave the murder an extra eerie feeling.
The spotlight quickly turned on her family as the suspects, but after an intense and long investigation, the mystery of JonBenét’s death remains unsolved.
CBS is also reportedly working on an unscripted true crime anthology series, which will focus on the Ramsey case in its first season.
