A Guide to Three Upcoming Thrills to Be Unveiled at Universal Orlando Resort

If you’re considering hitting up Universal Orlando Resort in Orlando, Florida in the near future, boy oh boy, do we have some good news for you.

The home of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has a few tricks up its sleeve following the recent reopening of The Incredible Hulk Coaster, which now features an exclusive score by Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy, and the unveiling of the multi-sensory, multi-dimensional ride based on the story of King Kong, Skull Island: Reign of Kong.

Skull Island: Reign of Kong puts you and your boldest friends on a 17-ton, trackless expedition vehicle to explore temple ruins and foreboding terrain with the 8th Wonder Expedition Company. King Kong makes an appearance at the end of the mission, but is he a friend or a foe? This is for your brave soul to discover. Both of these attractions can be found on Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

First up is Universal’s first water park and third park in total, Volcano Bay, that will open its gates in 2017. Volcano Bay will be based on the fabled Waturi Island, where the philosophy goes, “Water is Life. Life is Joy.” Exciting attractions within include Krakatau, the Fire and Water Volcano, that towers 200 feet above the island and floods with fiery lava once the sun goes down. Thrill-seekers will flock to the Ko’okiri Body Plunge that will drop you 125 feet at 70-degree angle into the water. Children can enjoy the Punga Racers that sent single riders out on manta ray mats to explore underwater sea caves.

Then, fans of Jimmy Fallon will be able to join their favorite late-night host in the 2017 ride based on his beloved Tonight Show segment, Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon, which will be stationed in Universal Studios Florida. Riders will compete against Fallon in a sprint out of Studio 6B through the streets, subways, and skies of his favorite city on Earth.

Finally (for now), in 2018, you can experience the first time that you saw Fast & Furious all over again on Fast & Furious: Supercharged at Universal Studios Florida. Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson will give you a tour through Vin Diesel’s headquarters, where you can check out the high-speed cars from the film franchise. Then, you will board specially-designed vehicles to hitch an “adrenaline-pumping” ride with the cast.
