Benedict Cumberbatch and New ‘Doctor Strange’ Stills Lead Today’s Star Sightings

'Doctor Strange' Trailer
Feelin' a little strange? Call the doctor!

Benedict Cumberbatch is feeling a little strange these days. As the British actor was spotted catching a flight out of Los Angeles on Friday (Aug. 12, 2016), new stills for his upcoming superhero flick, Doctor Strange, were released.

“This man reaches the very bottom and then more,” Cumberbatch told Entertainment Weekly about his character. “You think, How much more can this guy take? He’s broken, he gets up again, he’s broken — and that’s really what makes him a superhero.”

“A lot of people have asked me, ‘What makes him a superhero?’ That’s really the answer I should have given. It’s not the Cloak of Levitation. It’s not the Eye of Agamotto. It’s about his staying power. It’s a marathon and not a sprint,” he continued. “The guy endures so much.”

In the Marvel movie, Cumberbatch plays Stephen Strange, a surgeon whose hands are so horribly damaged in a car that he can no longer operate. Traveling to Nepal in hopes of finding a way to repair them, he encounters a mystic named The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) who teaches him how to harness his superpowers and utilize artifacts like the Cloak of Levitation and the Eye of Agamotto.

Also starring Rachel McAdams and Chiwetel Ejiofor, the film opens Nov. 4.
