Adele Explains Why She Turned Down Performing at the Next Super Bowl

Adele addressed that recent rumor about the NFL approaching her to perform at the halftime show during Super Bowl LI.

Adele told the crowd at a concert in Los Angeles that she was asked to lend her vocal talents to the biggest football event of the year, but declined since the gig seemed off-brand.

“Come on. That show is not about music, and I don’t dance or anything like that,” she said on Saturday (Aug. 13, 2016). “They were really kind, they did ask me, but I did say no.”

“I know I’m not Beyoncé, I can’t dance or anything like that,” Adele continued.

We happen to disagree:

The NFL and their sponsor, Pepsi, released a joint statement about the talent that they’re acquiring for the show.

“We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else,” the statement read. “We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.”
