Amber Heard and Johnny Depp Settle Divorce Case
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp filed legal documents to end their divorce case on Tuesday (Aug. 16, 2016) wherein Heard withdrew her request for a domestic violence restraining order petition against her estranged husband.
TMZ reports that Heard dismissed the case with prejudice just one day before their scheduled restraining order hearing, which means that she can never file the case again. Sources told the tabloid that Depp’s and Heard’s legal teams came together to craft a settlement after Heard was deposed on Saturday (Aug. 13). The couple released a joint statement following the settlement.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love. Neither party has made false accusations for financial gains,” the statement reads. “There was never an intent of physical or emotional harm. Amber wishes the best for Johnny in the future. Amber will be donating financial proceeds from the divorce to a charity.”
According to inside sources, Depp agreed to pay Heard $7 million, including attorneys’ fees, to dismiss the case.
