Ariel Winter Has a Valid Point: ‘Everyone Has a Butt’
Ariel Winter is getting tired of social media users freaking out when she shares a photo of a certain body part that we would all struggle to live without.
Winter spoke to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood Issue Celebration in Los Angeles on Tuesday (Aug. 16) in defense of her Instagram photos that draw criticism from some of the app’s more conservative users.
“Everybody is so hyped up on the fact that I post photos where my butt’s out. It’s a butt. Everyone has a butt,” said Winter. “I don’t think it’s crazy.”
The Modern Family star says that she isn’t trying to cause a controversy with her photos.
“I don’t really think I’m telling myself, ‘You should post this, you shouldn’t post that,’ I feel like I’m just having fun. I like my fans to see what I’m doing,” said Winter before she pulled a Kim Kardashian. “It’s like, ‘Let me live! I’m enjoying my life, you’re enjoying your life, you should be posting your butt if you like it, too!'”
Winter tells those who find her photos offensive can just press the “unfollow” button.
“I’m not going to fight with someone on my Instagram that tells me they don’t like my outfit or I should put my butt away,” continued Winter. “I’m sorry you think I should put my butt away, but just unfollow me.”
Winter addressed the relationship rumors that allege that she and Sterling Beaumon are dating given their many recent sighting together.
“We’ve been best friends for 10 years,” said Winter. “We’re not dating. We see each other every day but no, we’re like literally best friends.”
