Former 3 Doors Down Guitarist Matt Roberts Found Dead of An Apparent Overdose

Musician Matt Roberts, the former guitarist for the rock band 3 Doors Down, was found dead in his hotel room from an apparent overdose of prescription pills. He was 38.

Roberts’ father, Darrell, told TMZ he and Matt were in Wisconsin for a charity event, and that his son was in rehearsal until 1AM Saturday (Aug. 20).

They both returned to their adjoining hotel rooms, but Darrell was woken up at 9AM by authorities who told him Matt was dead.

The elder Roberts said he believed prescription pills were involved but that he thinks the overdose was accidental. The grieving father added Matt was “deeply loved by his friends and family and the loss is devastating.”

Matt left 3 Doors Down in 2012 for health issues concerning blood circulation in his body, says TMZ.
